Serco takes on more hazmat duties for Navy
Under an $88 million contract, Serco extends its hazmat management services for the Navy at a Norfolk, Va., facility.
Serco Inc. will provide the Navy with hazardous materials logistics services under a new five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract worth about $88 million.
The company will perform hazmat management services and provide consolidated hazmat reutilization and inventory support to the hazmat program office at the Navy’s Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Norfolk, Va.
The contract has a one-year base period with four one-year option periods.
The award includes logistical support for the acquisition and management of hazmat products and chemicals for the Commander of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. Serco will use an integrated hazmat supply chain to minimize and stabilize costs while ensuring maximum availability, the company said in a statement today.
Serco has been providing hazmat management services to the Navy since 2002. The latest win expands the company’s services across the country to the East Coast.
Serco, of Vienna, Va., ranks No. 29 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
