KBR, L-3 lock down logistics awards

KBR Inc. and L-3 Communications have nailed down Defense Department logistics contracts with a combined worth of $38.6 million.

KBR was awarded a two-year $28 million task order from the Army Contracting Command under its current Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) IV contract to support Army and Navy missions at five sites in Bahrain.

Under the task order KBR will support nearly 1400 personnel and provide camp construction, including the build-out of a Life Support Area, facilities management, hazmat management, water production, firefighting services, airfield operations and power generation.

Services will also include self-service laundry operations, food service, shuttle bus services and fuel retail operations.

L-3 Communications Corp. was awarded a $10.68 million firm-fixed-price modification to a previously awarded contract to provide additional logistics support services for the Navy’s C-40A aircraft fleet.

Services include site activation; site support at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas; NAS Jacksonville, Fla.; and NAS North Island, Calif.

The award also covers inventory management and support, including tracking and control of government- and contractor-owned inventory; depot-level support, component repair, overhaul and replacement of government- and contractor-owned inventory and engine condition monitoring.

The work, which is expected to be completed in November, will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas; NAS Jacksonville, Fla.; NAS North Island, Calif.; Oklahoma City; Arlington, Texas; and Tulsa, Okla.

KBR, of Houston, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors. L-3 Communications, of New York City, ranks No. 8 on the list.
