Vangent to improve ailing DOD health care procurement system

Vangent Inc. will provide a new, improved health care procurement system for the Defense Department under a $6.85 million contract.

The award from DOD’s Tricare Management Activity will modernize the TMA procurement system and enable the agency to more efficiently manage contracts and acquire critical goods and services, according to a Nov. 30 Vangent statement.

Vangent will integrate software and hardware technology with human resources to deliver a complete commercial off-the-shelf program named PRISM, which was developed by its teaming partner Compusearch Software Systems Inc. The new system will replace TMA’s current system, Comprizon.Buy.

PRISM will be configured to address TMA’s contract management processes, which are governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation, the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement and other DOD and government guidelines.

Vangent was awarded the TMA Contracts Management contract as a task order under the Department of Defense/Systems Integration, Design, Development, Operations and Maintenance Services 3 contract vehicle.

Vangent is supported by subcontractors Compusearch, TeraThink Corp. and Planned Systems International.
