EDS name joins pantheon of defunct brands

When Hewlett-Packard announced today that it was dropping the EDS name and creating HP Enterprise Services, EDS joined a long list of fable names that rode off into the sunset.
Here are some of our favorite gone-but-not-forgotten company names:
American Management Systems Inc. – split into two pieces with one being sold to CACI International and the other to CGI Group.
BDM International – sold to TRW, which in turn was acquired by Northrop Grumman.
BTG Inc. – sold to Titan Corp., which was later acquired by L-3 Communications Inc.
Computer Data Systems Inc., aka, CDSI – sold to Affiliated Computer Systems Inc. and then swapped to Lockheed Martin when Lockheed and ACS traded their federal, and state and local businesses.
Compaq Computers – sold to HP.
Digital Equipment Corp. – sold to Compaq which in turn was sold to HP.
Federal Data Corp. – acquired by Northrop Grumman.
GTE Corp. – broken apart with three divisions going to General Dynamics and a fourth to DynCorp.
Litton Industries – acquired by Northrop Grumman.
Logicon – acquired by Northrop Grumman.
PRC – sold to Northrop Grumman as part of its Litton acquisition.
Wang Laboratories – sold to Getronics, which sold its government business back to Ken Bajaj to form DigitalNet, which he then sold to BAE Systems.
