Industry day pending for Eagle II Small Business
The Homeland Security Department plans to hold an industry day in the next few months for the small business portion of its second-generation contract vehicle to obtain information technology support services.
The Homeland Security Department is still refining its acquisition strategy for the small business portion of its second generation contracting vehicle for purchasing information technology support services from small businesses and expects to announce plans to hold an industry day within the next few months.
The department received a heavy volume of responses to its Feb. 10 request for information regarding the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions II – Small Business procurement, according to an April 28 notice posted on the FedBizOpps Web site.
The department plans to provide additional information to small businesses regarding its acquisition strategy for Eagle II - Small Business through subsequent FBO announcements. It also plans to provide a specific date for an industry day in which DHS officials will discuss the government’s acquisition approach and answer vendor questions.
DHS has offered two possible approaches to making small-business awards under the Eagle II contract, according to previous media reports. One approach would be to offer individual projects for bids by companies in separate groups, such as 8(a) small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, small businesses owned by service-disabled veterans, and so forth.
The other approach would be to use a functional category approach in which it would restrict award pools to small businesses with proven capabilities in a specific functional area.
