General Dynamics unit gets Medicare contract
General Dynamics IT's VIPS unit wins contract from Medicare and Medicaid services center.
General Dynamics Information Technology will provide computer software services and system maintenance to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under a five-year task order worth $45 million, the company announced.
General Dynamics IT’s Viable Information Processing Systems unit will provide the services to CMS' Drug Data Processing System and the Payment Reconciliation System, the company said in a news release dated April 15.
The work will include system design, software enhancements, technical improvements and support for ongoing management reporting, and processing of prescription drug events for the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Part D program.
General Dynamics IT acquired Viable Information Processing Systems in June 2008. The unit has a 30-year history of delivering health care IT and informatics.
The parent company, General Dynamics Corp., of Falls, Church, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal prime contractors .
