BearingPoint continues supply management support for DLA

BearingPoint Inc. will continue to provide supply management support to the Defense Department under a three-year contract that could be worth as much as $3.7 million.

The contractor will provide supplier relationship management functions to the Defense Logistic Agency, the DOD’s largest combat support agency. DLA supplies the military services and several civilian agencies with the critical resources needed to accomplish their worldwide missions, BearingPoint officials said.

DLA provides wide-ranging logistical support for peacetime and wartime operations, as well as emergency preparedness and humanitarian missions, they added.

Under this latest competitively bid contract, BearingPoint will provide metrics development and performance tracking, strategic sourcing strategies, and acquisition and program management solutions.

Bearing Point’s Acquisition and Program Management solutions support DLA’s mission with financial and budget support, compliance reviews, acquisition support documentation and acquisition maturity assessments such as benchmarking, independent verification and validation; cost estimating and earned value performance measurement services.

DLA established the supplier relationship management program in 2002. BearingPoint began work on the program that same year, consulting on data access, business analytics and broad supplier strategies, the officials said.

During the time that BearingPoint has supported the program, DLA has been able to deliver inventory cost savings and reduce customer wait times for order fulfillment, they added.

BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
