Five contractors will compete for task orders to help the Education Department modernize its management of student loan data under a contract worth as much as $300 million.

Accenture Ltd., Computer Science Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Science Applications International Corp. and Vangent Inc. were awarded slots on the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, according to a notice published on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.

The contractors will provide software design and development services to the Office of Federal Student Aid. The effort will modernize and improve the Web-based student aid infrastructure used to distribute and process student aid applications and loans.

The multiple-award contract has a five-year base period with five one-year options. Work will be performed primarily in the Washington area.
