SAIC to help Army consolidate IT systems

Science Applications International Corp. will help the Army consolidate the information technology infrastructure that supports its personnel systems under a task order that could be worth $410 million.

The award from the General Services Administration's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center calls for SAIC to assist the Army Human Resources Command in streamlining its IT systems. The center manages and directs the Army's personnel systems and human resources activities.

SAIC will help the command consolidate a number of related contracts and implement a shared-resources approach to workforce management. The company's services will include program and project management, systems engineering and integration, enterprise architecture planning, information assurance, training and help-desk support.

The work will initially be performed in Alexandria, Va., and St. Louis, but eventually will move to Fort Knox, Ky., due to the Defense Department's scheduled Base Realignment and Closure relocations.

The task order, which was awarded under the IT Enterprise Solutions-2 Services contract, has a one-year base and four one-year options.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
