DISA issues call for spectrum white papers

The Defense Information Systems Agency wants white papers from the private sector on engineering services and emerging technologies related to spectrum management. The white papers are due Aug. 22.

The agency is seeking proposals on behalf of the Defense Spectrum Organization for further study in three subtopics: analysis of network scalability, evaluation of policy-based management and possible solutions to the problem of hidden nodes.

When a node that is visible from a wireless access point is not visible to other nodes communicating to the access point, it is called a hidden node.

Each proposal should address only one subtopic. Businesses interested in multiple subtopics should submit a separate proposal for each. Each subtopic contains several different challenges that merit study.

Award decisions will be based on a competitive selection of proposals resulting from a scientific review. The agency plans to award 12-month, $250,000 contracts.
