Army seeks simulation and training assistance

The Army released a broad agency announcement Aug. 11 calling for research, development and engineering assistance for its Simulation and Training Technology Center.

Officials are seeking services that will help them develop and advance technologies that benefit the Army's training and test and evaluation systems, the announcement states.

The Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's Simulation and Training Technology Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., issued the announcement.

Programs that will receive funding include exploratory and advanced research related to simulation and training, and technology demonstrations.

Center officials want to explore technologies related to two broad areas.

Battlefield-simulation efforts will cover aspects such as engagement simulation and instrumentation technology, live training in urban terrain, and modeling for joint warfare.

Embedded simulation and training for combat systems and vehicles will cover dismounted-soldier training systems, medical modeling and simulation, and 3-D holography modeling and simulation.

Responses are due Aug. 1, 2009.
