Army seeks facial-recognition, fingerprinting technologies

The Army wants 3-D facial-recognition and multispectral fingerprinting technologies for its Biometrics Automated Toolset program managed by the Language and Technology Center at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

In a presolicitation notice published July 3, the Army set performance objectives for both requirements. An RFP is expected to be released on July 28.

The facial-recognition requirement calls for a 3-D face model generator, enrollment and identification modules, a video/IP interface and a Web client for the identification, enrollment and video components of the automated toolset. The contractor must also be able to build and support a prototype system that incorporates the various software components.

The fingerprint technology requirement entails a product development plan, a working multispectral prototype sensor, a fully functional working model of a multispectral imaging fingerprint capture device and delivery of 50 fully functional units integrated into the automated toolset.
