Northrop names Waldman to head acquisition efforts

Northrop Grumman Corp. has named a former Senate staff member as its director of acquisition policy.

Mitchell B. Waldman was national security advisor to former Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.). At Northrop Grumman, Waldman will work on pending and upcoming acquisition regulations and policies issues involving the Defense Department and other agencies. He also will represent the company at acquisition and related professional associations.

Waldman will report to Larry Lanzillotta, vice president of customer relations at Northrop Grumman.

"A clear understanding of the benefits and impacts of proposed government policies and regulations regarding acquisition is vital for a tier-one contractor such as Northrop Grumman," Lanzillotta said.

In addition to working for Lott, Waldman served in a number of positions for the Navy, including deputy assistant secretary, director of cost engineering and industrial analysis for the Naval Sea Systems Command and deputy program manager for amphibious warfare programs.

Northrop Grumman ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
