Cubic takes aim at Army training

Cubic Corp. has won an $18.7 million Army contract to provide its small arms and simulated weapons training program to the Army and Army National Guard.

Cubic's Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 teaches marksmanship skills, squad-level collective defense and judgmental shoot-don't shoot tactics. It also trains warfighters in the use of small arms, the 50-caliber M-2 machine gun and the 40mm Mark-19 grenade launcher.

The company's Defense Applications unit will deliver the virtual systems and services under a contract from the Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation and Training Instrumentation.

Cubic has provided more than 700 EST 2000 systems and more than 6,000 simulated weapons to military installations in the United States, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. The company's Simulation Systems Division, based in Orlando, Fla., produces and manufactures the EST 2000.
