Boeing shakes up defense unit leadership

Boeing Co. has announced a wide-ranging series of leadership changes in its Integrated Defense Systems unit.

The new assignments affect 14 senior executives and will position the $32 billion unit for further success in its defense and space markets, said Jim Albaugh, president and chief executive of IDS at Boeing.

Among the major changes:

• John Lockard becomes chief operating officer of Integrated Defense Systems and will serve as Albaugh's deputy. Lockard previously led IDS' Precision Engagement and Mobility Systems division.
  
• Pat Finneran, who previously led the IDS Support Services business, moves to vice president of operations and supplier management, replacing John Van Gels, who began a special assignment last month.
  
• Dennis Muilenburg becomes president of IDS Support Systems, replacing Finneran. Muilenburg previously led the company's Combat Systems division and the Future Combat Systems program.
  
• Bill Schnettgoecke becomes vice president and deputy, operations and supplier management. He will also retain his previous duties leading the companywide Lean productivity initiative.
  
• Charles Toups becomes vice president of IDS Engineering. He was vice president of navigation and communications systems at Space and Intelligence Systems.
