A request for proposals is expected in early 2008.The department will use the system to administer federal grants for the No Child Left Behind program. The system should provide local education agencies with a means to submit grant applications and enable staff to create and modify grants being offered.The New York Chief Information Officer and Technology Office may want a contractor to design and build a new data center. An RFP is expected in mid-2008.The contractor should provide a consolidated data center that will permit the safe and secure operation of the state's mainframe computers at a single, efficient site. Backup and recovery capabilities should be provided at another secure location.The city of Seattle may want a contractor to provide PCs and related equipment and services. An RFP is expected in early 2008.The contractor should provide software and hardware for PCs, warranty service, product and network installation, and server hardware diagnostic services. The contractor also will be responsible for other services such as data migration, deinstallation and technical support.
