IRS seeks middleware support

The IRS seeks offers for software development, operation and maintenance of its Information Technologies Infrastructure Middleware section. The section deploys and supports production middleware components, problem analysis and infrastructure application integration.
The section provides the transition of middleware products from the Modernization office to integration throughout the agency, and it supports the life cycle of the modernized infrastructure, the IRS said in its request for proposals earlier this week.
This includes the integration, configuration and customization of commercial software ? such as Vignette, WebSphere, SiteMinder, Business Objects, PeopleSoft and SAP ? as well as custom-developed infrastructure applications and interfaces.
The contract is for one year, starting in November, and two one-year options. It will be a mix of fixed-price and indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts. Offers are due July 18.
The Middleware section provides technical and operational support from front-end portals to the back-end systems including infrastructure interfaces between systems. It supports a variety of the infrastructure application components that IRS shares among its business applications and electronic services.
