Nortel Government Solutions is now a reseller of certified wireless solutions from Fortress Technologies Inc., a secure wireless network provider. The agreement expands Nortel GS' portfolio of secure networking products and integration services.

"Secure wireless is becoming even more critical as our military and civil agency customers demand broadband mobility to enhance their performance and mission capabilities," said Chuck Saffell, CEO of Nortel Government Solutions. "This agreement strengthens our ability to provide proven, end-to-end solutions for secure wireless voice, video and data."

Fortress Technologies' products comply with the Defense Information Systems Agency Joint Interoperability Test Command and Federal Information Processing Standards required by the Defense Department and most federal agencies, according Nortel GS.

Janet Kumpu, CEO and president of Tampa, Fla.-based Fortress Technologies, said the two companies have been providing government agencies with secure wireless voice, video and data networking for years. "This agreement is the next step in expanding our strong relationship, providing a more flexible and efficient means to meet growing customer demand," she said.

The reseller agreement includes Fortress' ES520 Secure Wireless Access Bridge, which combines wireless, switching and security services in a small, rugged form that is designed for incident response and rapid deployment of fixed or mobile voice, video and data communications.

Nortel GS of Fairfax, Va., is a unit of Nortel Networks Corp. of Toronto. Nortel GS ranks No. 69 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
