New York to re-bid Medicaid work

The New York Health Department wants a contractor to serve as fiscal agent for its Medicaid program.

Computer Sciences Corp. has held the contract since 1985. Details of the solicitation were not available at press time.

Health information system

The Information Services Department for California's Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System wants a contractor to provide a computerized customer service management and information system.

The system should document and classify customer and patient contacts, provide automated responses by managers and physicians, print forms and letters for staff, and produce statistics and caseload reports.

Managed care wanted

The Medical Assistance Administration's Office of Managed Care in the District of Columbia's Health Department is seeking organizations to provide Medicaid managed-care services for temporary assistance to needy families program. An RFP is expected in the first or second quarter.

The city currently has four organizations providing these services, with contracts set to expire in July.

NATO network help

Bidding has been reopened for a NATO project to build a LAN to connect several NATO commands.

NATO expects the contract to be worth about $16.8 million. NATO reopened bidding because, by combining work on both unclassified and classified LANs, it had expanded the project's scope. Unless they withdraw, bidders who responded to the solicitation last March will be considered in the new round of bidding. The U.S. Commerce Department and the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency are managing the project.

SatCom replacements

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command is planning a competition for replacements for certain of its satellite communications terminals. The new terminals will replace INMARSAT and Commercial Wideband Satellite Program equipment.
