Quantum Research wins $449M Army missile deal

Quantum Research International Inc. will support the Army's Space and Missile Defense Command under a contract that could be worth more than $449 million over 10 years.

Quantum of Huntsville, Ala., will support the Concepts and Operations for Space and Missile Defense Integration Capabilities, or Cosmic, program. It focuses on the Army's ability to use space power for command control and other critical warfighting functions.

Quantum will help the Army to support future warfighters by developing technologies such as enhanced communication, intelligence and weapon platforms. These include mobile networking technologies, microsatellites, nanotechnologies and lasers and robotics that use with knowledge management systems.

The Quantum-led team will offer services in a range of areas, including management, strategic planning and concept and requirements development. The team also will handle enterprise architecture development, rapid prototyping, test and demonstration activities and fielding and systems support.

The Army's Space and Missile Defense Command, Future Warfare Center, Space and Missile Defense Battle Lab, will oversee the work.
