GSA taps Johnson as acting ITS assistant commissioner

The General Services Administration has named John Johnson as the agency's acting Integrated Technology Solutions assistant commissioner effective June 5, replacing Deidre Lee, who left GSA in March.

Johnson already serves as GSA's assistant commissioner for service development and delivery within GSA's Federal Technology Service and is overseeing two major acquisitions?the $20 billion Networx telecommunications contract and the $65 billion Alliant IT services vehicle.

ITS, within GSA's new Federal Acquisition Service, manages telecommunications contracts, governmentwide acquisition contracts, professional-services schedules, IT schedules, and program, planning and development.

"I know he will continue his high level of performance in managing the complex programs of ITS in this new role," said Marty Wagner, acting FAS commissioner. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this job."

Lee left the agency in March to join the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Meanwhile, Wagner also announced that Jim Williams, deputy FTS commissioner, will retire June 3.

Williams, a 32-year government veteran, was appointed to his current role in July 2004 after serving as deputy regional administrator of GSA's National Capital Region.
