Advanced Technology wins Capitol architect IT outsourcing deal

Advanced Technology Systems Inc. was awarded a five year, $20 million contract from the General Services Administration to support the Architect of the Capitol's Information Technology Division.

Advanced Technology Systems Inc. was awarded a five year, $20 million contract from the General Services Administration to support the Architect of the Capitol's Information Technology Division.

Advanced Technology Systems of McLean, Va., will supply a team to provide technology infrastructure and security operations support for the Capitol architect's IT division. The team will assist with network engineering, network and help desk operations, and IT security planning.

The company also will conduct application and Web development as well as content management using Microsoft and ColdFusion platforms on 10 Web sites, including the public Web sites for the Architect of the Capitol and the U.S. Botanic Garden.

The project builds on the company's accomplishments at the Law Library of Congress where it designed, developed, hosted and provided infrastructure support for Global Legal Information, said Doug Manning, vice president of Operations at Advanced Technology Systems.

The Architect of the Capitol is responsible for the maintenance, operation, development and preservation of the U.S. Capitol complex, which includes the Capitol, congressional office buildings, Library of Congress buildings, the Supreme Court building, the Botanic Garden, the Capitol Power Plant and other facilities.
