UPDATED: CSC, Raytheon share Patent Office contract

UPDATED Computer Sciences Corp. and Raytheon Technical Services Co. won systems development and integration contracts with the Patent and Trademark Office, allowing the two companies to compete for work at the agency, officials at the Patent Office said.

CSC's contract is for one year with seven one-year options that could bring the contract value up to $280 million, the company said. Raytheon's contract could be worth up to $251.9 million if all options are exercised, according to an award notice posted on FedBizOpps.gov.

The companies will compete for work under the contract. No work has been awarded yet, agency officials said.

Officials from CSC of El Segundo, Calif., said the will compete for work involving systems design, development, implementation, integration, maintenance, testing and training. About 150 CSC employees will work on the contract, company officials said.

CSC is No. 3 on the Washington Technology 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., is No. 7.
