EDS' Edmonds announces retirement

Al Edmonds, EDS Corp.'s vice president of government operations, will retire from the company this summer, EDS announced today.

Edmonds has led Plano, Texas-based EDS U.S. government group for the past six years. He will keep the post until a successor is found.

Under his leadership, revenue from EDS' U.S. government business more than tripled, the company said.

Jeff Heller, EDS' president and chief executive officer, said Edmonds has provided "outstanding leadership" during his tenure and played a major role in expanding EDS' U.S. and global government business.

"His extensive government expertise and innovative approach to delivering client solutions helped EDS become a global leader in the government arena," Heller said.

Edmonds joined EDS in 1998 after retiring from the Air Force. From 1998 to 1999, he served as vice president and chief operating officer of EDS Federal, where he was responsible for directing operations for EDS' U.S. government business.

In 2001, he assumed his responsibilities as head of U.S. government business.
