The General Services Administration next week will officially launch FirstGov en Español, the government's first and only Spanish-language information Web portal, at www.espanol.gov, department officials announced today.
The Web site already is running, but the official launch is set for Oct. 16.
FirstGov is the official Web gateway to U.S. government information. It is one of more than 20 cross-agency e-government initiatives.
FirstGov en Español links visitors to Spanish-language Web sites and Web pages available from the federal and state governments. FirstGov en Español will provide on-line information and services to the more than 26 million Spanish-speaking residents of the United States, according to GSA.
FirstGov en Español will launch Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at the National Press Club in Washington. Stephen Perry, GSA administrator, and Hector Barreto, Small Business Administration administrator, are two of the speakers at the event.
