Brief: Faxing goes mobile
KSE Software, Dusseldorf, Germany, has released the latest version of its fax software for mobile devices. Truefax, which works on Microsoft Corp.'s Pocket PC platform, allows users to send and receive faxes with a handheld computer or cell phone.

The Voice Over Internet Protocol Council has started a working group to establish Internet faxing standards. Current Internet fax services, such as Efax from J2 Global Communications Inc., are not interoperable. An open standard would further cut the costs of long-distance faxing, said Ralph Musgrove, chair of the Fax-Over-IP Working Group.
