SAIC wins Army software engineering deal

Science Applications International Corp. has won a subcontract potentially worth $172 million to provide systems and software engineering services to the Army's Communications & Electronics Command software engineering center in Fort Monmouth, N.J., the company announced Jan. 4.


SAIC of San Diego is part of a team led by Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide services over a five years with five one-year options.


In its subcontracting role, SAIC's Integrated IT Solutions Group will conduct system software acquisition, software architecture and software technology tasks. The company's Telecommunications Technology Group and the Applied Software Systems Engineering Technology Group also are supporting the effort.


"SAIC will be expanding the work it performs for a very strategic and important customer," said Chuck Sutten, SAIC group manager and senior vice president. The Communications & Electronics Command "plays a crucial role in the Army's strategy today, and we are very proud to support their mission."
