Find opportunities — and win them.

A new contract is under development to centralize the IT systems used for managing the Defense Department's physical assets.

The Defense Department has started its work to develop a contract for the technology systems that manage the Pentagon and related facilities.

While it focuses on running the building infrastructure, the sources sought notice makes clear that the contract is also an opportunity chock full of information technology.

The notice includes a long list of servicers, desktops, workstations, data center technologies and range of software used to manage the Pentagon plant.

DOD's Washington Headquarters Services organization needs on-side contractor support for its Facility Services Directorate. The support will cover control systems, networks, hardware and software.

The contractor will need a security facility clearance to handle top secret information. Personnel will also need security clearances.

The request for information lays out five broad task areas -- utility systems and technologies; facilities-related control systems and building automation IT support; cybersecurity; policy and legislative documentation; and hardware and software supplies.

It is not clear from the RFI whether this is a new contractor or a recompete.

Comments are due Nov. 3. DOD will consider making this a small business set-aside contract if enough qualified small businesses respond.
