GSA, industry leaders to share supply chain insights at WT Power Breakfast

Supply chain security is one of the hot button issues of 2021 and will continue to burn bright in 2022.

So that will be the topic of discussion on Friday, when we kick off this year’s slate of Washington Technology Power Breakfasts.

We’ve seen a lot of changes in the supply chain over the last decade and the COVID 19 pandemic exposed a lot of vulnerabilities to the supply chain, both in the government and across the nation. It’s become a topic for dinner table conversations.

It is also one of those issues that is both a challenge for government contractors as they work to secure and solidify their own supply chains, as well as a business opportunity as they help customers do the same for their supply chains.

Kicking off our event on Friday is Kelley Artz, the supply chain risk management technical expert at the General Services Administration. She works in the office of policy and compliance in GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service.

GSA is one of the government’s biggest buyers and helps determine how other agencies purchase things, so Artz will share what the agency is doing to secure its supply chain and how those initiatives will impact government contractors.

We’ll follow that keynote with a panel of industry executives:

• Bob Gemmill, senior vice president and chief procurement officer at Leidos
• Alexis McGuire, vice president and chief supply chain officer at General Dynamics IT
• Lisa Veith, senior vice president for new market initiatives and strategic growth at Maximus' federal business

They will share real world examples of how they have taken on supply chain issues for their companies and customers. We’ll dive into a discussion on how COVID changed everything as well as what the shift to a hybrid remote workforce means for the supply chain.

Those are just two examples. You can expect a wide-ranging and in-depth discussion from this group.

I’m also excited that this Power Breakfast will be on a video platform. Oher publications and entities have been doing video for their virtual events, but this will be the first in a long time for us.

After being acquired by GovExec last year, we are transitioning to a new platform that supports video for the Power Breakfasts.

Given the speakers that we have, I think the addition of the video format will make for a dynamic and engaging presentation.

The Power Breakfast kicks off at 8:15 a.m. Eastern time and will wrap up by 9:30 a.m.
