Analytical Mechanics Associates’ board of directors has hired a new chief executive in Joseph Poise, a two-decade industry veteran and most recently an executive at Science Applications International Corp.
Poist started in the role on Tuesday, AMA said in a release. AMA opened for business in 1962 to support government and commercial entities support in areas such as engineering, science and mathematics.
The current iteration of Hampton, Virginia-headquartered AMA’s strategy also includes IT and visualization as core tech focus areas.
AMA has recorded approximately $154.8 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months with NASA being its sole government client, according to USASpending.gov data. The company also counts SpaceX, Boeing and Lockheed Martin as among its commercial customers.
Prior to AMA, Poist was a vice president at SAIC and led a large business group supporting complex government missions.
His career in government includes service as chief of staff at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, where he helped oversee a portfolio of $5 billion in annual programs and a workforce of roughly 10,000 civil servants and contractors.
Poist is also a former NASA associate deputy chief financial officer for resources, a role that involved responsibility for guiding programs from inception to delivery.
