Claroty, a cybersecurity company focused on protecting critical infrastructure and operational technology systems, has hired former SandboxAQ executive Jen Sovada as general manager of its public sector division.
Sovada joins Claroty amid its creation of a subsidiary to focus on U.S. government work and pursuit of a FedRAMP cloud security authorization at the high impact level.
The retired Air Force colonel and 25-year service veteran will lead sales and strategy for Claroty’s federal government and state, local and education teams. She will also oversee Claroty’s push to expand the availability of its platform for public sector missions, the company said Wednesday.
In the spring of 2024, Claroty secured $100 million in growth capital from investors to support its work to expand across public sector and heavily-regulated critical infrastructure markets. The 11-year-old company is putting that investment toward the research and development of core and adjacent technologies such as secure remote access, along with work to expand strategic partnerships.
At SandboxAQ, she worked as president of the artificial intelligence and quantum computing startup’s global public sector division for close to three years.
Her military career included assignments such as commander of the Air Force Technical Applications Center. She is also the founder and chief executive of Boadicea Solutons, a firm that advises companies on technology and talent strategies for the public sector market.
