The former QinetiQ US CEO will lead Sabel through this new phase of its strategy as a Sagewind Capital-backed company.

Sabel Systems has hired a new chief executive in Shawn Purvis, a three-decade market veteran who joins the research-and-development company four months after its sale to a private equity firm.

In a Tuesday LinkedIn post, Sabel cited Purvis’ background in enterprise strategy and digital transformation as key in leading the company through this phase as a Sagewind Capital-backed firm.

Purvis most recently led QinetiQ Group’s U.S. subsidiary as CEO for close to three years, a tenure that included its acquisition of Avantus Federal and construction of a growth blueprint centered around the AUKUS trilateral security partnership.

Her career prior to QinetiQ US includes 10 years at Northrop Grumman, where her most recent role was president of enterprise services.

Sagewind acquired its majority ownership of Sabel in the fall amid that company’s push to further expand its flagship digital engineering cloud offering across the defense landscape. Sabel was founded in 2001 and touted a 200-person workforce at the time of the Sagewind transaction.
