Steve Isakowitz has led the nonprofit space organization for 10 years and oversaw the relocation of its headquarters to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region.
The Aerospace Corp., a nonprofit organization that runs as a federally funded research-and-development center focused on space, has started its search for a new chief executive to succeed the retiring Steve Isakowitz.
Isakowitz has led Aerospace for 10 years since he became its seventh CEO and plans to step down from the role in 2026, the firm said Wednesday. Executive search and leadership advisory firm Russell Reynolds Associates will work with Aerospace to identify and hire his successor.
Isakowitz’s tenure includes a realignment of Aerospace’s structure and the 2024 relocation of its corporate headquarters to Chantilly, Virginia. The firm sought to gain closer proximity to senior leaders across government and industry.
Aerospace employed roughly 4,500 people and posted approximately $1.3 billion in revenue for 2023, according to the firm’s annual report.
The firm’s clients include U.S. government agencies, their international partners and certain commercial entities involved in space missions.
