Spire Global promotes Condor to chief executive
Founder and CEO Peter Platzer has led the company for 12 years in a tenure that included its 2021 public listing.
Spire Global has promoted Theresa Condor, part of the space data company’s founding team and current chief operating officer, to CEO in a move that takes effect on Jan. 1.
Founder and CEO Peter Platzer will become executive chairman of the board of directors following 12 years at the helm, Spire said Tuesday.
One major moment of Platzer’s tenure took place in the summer of 2021, when Spire became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. Spire recorded $105.7 million in revenue for its most recent fiscal year.
In mid-November, Spire agreed to sell its maritime business to Kpler in a $241 million transaction aimed at further portfolio reshaping and reducing debt.
Condor’s first role at Spire was as general manager of space services and Earth intelligence before her appointment to the COO post in 2021.
The pending CEO transition is not the only executive move happening at Spire.
Former Airbus executive Celia Pelaz will join Spire as COO on Jan. 6, the same day that another former Airbus exec in Gabriel Oehme will start as chief transformation officer.
Spire’s chief financial officer Leo Basola will step down. Former CFO Thomas Krywe will return to the role on an interim basis while the company searches for a permanent CFO.
