Reli Group's founder returns to CEO role

Mohammad Elias focused on his role as chairman of Reli's board of directors for the past two years.

Reli Group’s founder Mohammad Elias, who led the company from its 2013 inception until 2022, will return to the chief executive position on Oct. 1.

This transition announced Monday will see current CEO Swami Swaminathan step down from the position and leave Reli after seven years.

Swaminathan first joined Reli as chief information officer in 2017 and became its interim CEO in the summer of 2022. He started the CEO role on a full-time basis that fall to help lead Reli through its transition further into federal market’s middle tier.

Elias started Reli to specialize in cybersecurity, health data, IT modernization, management consulting and other professional services for agencies. He focused on his role as chairman of Reli's board of directors for the past two years.

Catonsville, Maryland-headquartered Reli has recorded approximately $103.6 million in unclassified prime revenue over the trailing 12 months.

All of that spend is from the departments of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security, according to USASpending.gov figures.
