Find opportunities — and win them.

One of the government's longest-tenured cyber leaders joins this provider of intelligence collaboration and analysis services.

FGS has hired a new chief executive in Grant Schneider, the former federal chief information security officer who will join the defense technology services provider in mid-October from his current role at Venable.

Schneider will succeed current CEO Randy Johnson, who has led FGS for the past 12 years and will now chair the board of directors. In announcing the transition Tuesday, FGS credited Johnson with tripling its workforce to 300 employees during his tenure.

La Plata, Maryland-headquartered FGS provides intelligence collaboration and analysis services predominantly to defense and intelligence agencies.

FGS was founded in 2004 and has recorded approximately $40.9 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months and all of that spend is from the Navy, according to GovTribe data.

The company also touts a customer base as including Central Command, Indo-Pacific Command, the National Reconnaissance Office, Air Force, Marine Corps, Office of Naval Intelligence, Secret Service and FBI.

Schneider was one of the longest-tenured cyber officials during his government service career and briefly served as acting federal CISO before taking on the role full-time in the summer of 2018.

He left the government two years later for Venable, where he worked as the law firm’s senior director of cybersecurity services.
