Edgesource has acquired a provider of software development and management consulting services to defense and intelligence agencies in an effort aimed at gaining greater footings in certain technology domains.

By purchasing Newbrook Solutions, Edgesource also is seeking to add a wider range of systems engineering and technical advisory work in the IT realm for their customers.

"This transformative move underscores our commitment to innovation, positioning us as a leader in data engineering, counter-unmanned aerial systems technologies, cybersecurity, research, software exploitation, and systems engineering," Edgesource's chief strategy officer Joe Urbaniak said in a release.

Newbrook's team of cleared employees carry out service management, software engineering and process engineering work on their programs.

Alexandria, Virginia-headquartered Newbrook is a small business that focuses on the design, testing and deployment of secure software technologies. The company was founded in 1999.
