Cloud software startup brings in GSA vet Sonny Hashmi
He most recently led the General Services Administration's acquisition team and now will oversee Unqork's public sector expansion push.
Unqork, a seven-year-old cloud computing and enterprise software startup, has hired a new leader for its public sector team in former General Services Administration official Sonny Hashmi.
Hashmi left his role as commissioner of GSA's Federal Acquisition Service on Friday and will now lead Unqork's push to expand its overall profile and partnership network across the federal landscape, the company said Wednesday.
While at FAS, Hashmi oversaw the delivery of more than $100 billion in products and services to other federal agencies. He also led GSA's IT cloud modernization strategy and the development of a new roadmap to measure performance.
Unqork's codeless software platform resides in cloud environments and works to help users design applications and other digital offerings through an entirely visual interface.
The company's most recent publicized funding round took place in 2020 via a Series C raise that fetched $207 million in capital, which pushed the touted valuation to $2 billion.
BlackRock led the round that included other participants such as Eldridge, Fin Venture Capital, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Schonfeld Strategic Advisors and Sunley House Capital Management, Alphabet's CapitalG growth fund, Goldman Sachs, Broadbridge Financial Solutions, Aquiline Technology Group and World Innovation Lab.
