General Dynamics' board adds former DSCA director
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Charles Hooper led the Defense Security Cooperation Agency from 2017 to 2020.
General Dynamics' board of directors has elected a new member in Charles Hooper, a retired Army lieutenant general and former director of the Defense Department agency that supports foreign military sales transactions.
"General Hooper's wealth of experience will help us continue to meet our customers' needs, both in the U.S. and with our U.S. allies," GD's chairman and CEO Phebe Novakovic said in a release Wednesday. "His leadership and strategic thinking will be valuable additions to our board of directors."
As leader of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Hooper oversaw the execution of U.S. policy on sales of defense products and services to U.S. allies. He served in that position from 2017 to his retirement from the Army in 2020.
Hooper's 41-year military career also includes assignments such as director of strategy, plans and programs at Africa Command; deputy director of strategic planning and policy at Indo-Pacific Command; and senior director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
He also served as U.S. defense attaché to Egypt and China in separate stints.
