Raytheon's board adds former Boeing defense CEO

Raytheon Technologies said Monday that its board of directors elected a new member in Leanne Caret, who joins nearly 10 months after her retirement from Boeing as chief executive of its defense segment.

Caret led the Boeing Defense, Space and Security business for six years in a tenure that included both a large-scale restructuring and move of its headquarters in 2016 from its longtime home of Greater St. Louis to Arlington, Virginia.

Raytheon and Boeing moved their corporate headquarters to Arlington in 2022, both of which were announced within a month of each other.

Caret's nearly three decades at Boeing also included roles such as chief financial officer for the defense segment, as well as president of its global services and support organization.

She was named one of Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women in Business in five straight years. In 2019, Caret was inducted into the Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame.
