Lockheed Martin has promoted its next lead business development executive in Michael Williamson, currently in charge of operational excellence initiatives in the company's missiles and fire control segment.

The company said Wednesday that Williamson will take the role of senior vice president of global business development and strategy on Nov. 1. He succeeds Tim Cahill, who is moving to executive vice president of missiles and fire control.

Williamson's current role puts him in charge of product and business enabling initiatives, as well as oversight of several aspects related to execution and enterprise performance.

The retired Army lieutenant general joined Lockheed in 2017 after a career that included service as principal military deputy to that service branch's assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology.
