These moves follow the elevation of a chief operating officer in early September.

Accenture's U.S. federal subsidiary has promoted a pair of executives to portfolio leadership roles.

Vanessa Godshalk will move up to leader of safety and citizen services leader, while Keith Runtz steps into the same capacity for the defense portfolio at Accenture Federal Services.

Godshalk takes the role formerly held by Ron Ash, a three-decade AFS veteran who was announced as COO in early September.

Godshalk now oversees a business unit that works with federal agencies such as NASA and the departments of Homeland Security, Energy, Justice and State. The 25-year AFS veteran was most recently strategy and consulting growth platform lead.

Prior to Runtz's promotion, he worked in the role of defense agencies leader and head of the Defense Logistics Agency client account. Runtz joined AFS in 1996.
