General Dynamics' IT services business unit has hired a new leader for its Army business in Garrett Yee, a retired major general and formerly a senior officer assigned to the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Yee will be tasked with driving growth and innovation across GDIT's portfolio with the Army that includes the implementation of specialized technology solutions, the company said Monday.

The 35-year Army veteran retired from military service in the spring was most recently assistant to the director of DISA: a role that put him in charge of a 19,000-employee workforce responsible for IT support to the U.S. military and senior leaders in the executive branch.

He is also a former military deputy and chief information security officer for what was the Army's CIO/G-6 office, which has since been divided into two offices with a civilian designated as chief information officer and the G-6 being a three-star.
