VMware hires new public sector leader
VMware's new leader for its public sector business most recently held the same role at Verizon, where she was charged with aligning that unit to the larger corporate vision.
VMware has hired a new vice president for its public sector business unit in Jennifer Chronis, who most recently served in the same capacity at Verizon.
Chronis will also oversee VMware’s work in state government and education markets in addition to federal, a company representative said. Her main focus at VMware will be helping customers navigate their digital transformation journeys including through multiple-cloud strategies.
At Verizon, Chronis led efforts to align the public sector unit with the larger “Verizon 2.0” corporate vision to organize around a customer-facing model versus one centered on products.
Earlier this week, Verizon announced the transition in public sector leadership there to 25-year company veteran Maggie Hallbach.
She joined Verizon in the summer of 2020 after four years as general manager of the Defense Department business unit at Amazon Web Services, the tech and e-commerce giant’s cloud computing business.
Chronis also is a former IBM executive and two-decade Army veteran.
