Dr. Mark Flugge joins the company to lead its work with federal agencies on their sustainability goals.

CGI Federal has hired a new leader for its line of services related to sustainability and climate change in Dr. Mark Flugge, a nearly two-decade veteran of advising global organizations on environmental matters.

He joins the subsidiary of CGI Group amid the parent company’s broader push to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 as outlined in its 2021 corporate responsibility report.

“Under his leadership, Dr. Flugge will serve as an integral link in bringing the company’s global expertise to our internal sustainability programs and to our clients,” Jay Hadley, senior vice president of consulting services for regulatory agencies, said in a release Tuesday.

Flugge will oversee the subsidiary’s work with federal agencies on meeting their sustainability goals as they respond and adapt to the impacts of climate change, CGI said.

Most recently, Flugge worked as an independent consultant to clients such as the World Bank on climate-related and environmental objectives.

His experience also includes roles at ICF and the Pew Center on Global Climate Change.
