Raytheon promotes new COO from within

Find opportunities — and win them.

Raytheon Technologies creates the position of chief operating officer and promotes one of its segment presidents to that role.

Raytheon Technologies has promoted from its own ranks a new chief operating officer in Christopher Calio, who currently leads the company’s Pratt & Whitney engine-making segment as president.

Calio will elevate to the newly-created position on March 1 and report directly to CEO Greg Hayes, Raytheon said Tuesday.

As COO, Calio will oversee the company's four segments as well as corporate-wide functions related to technology and engineering; enterprise services and digital; and operations, quality, environmental, health and safety, and supply chain.

He is a two-decade defense sector veteran who led Pratt & Whitney through introductions of several product upgrades and the F153 program to build the F-35 fighter jet’s engine.

Succeeding him as Pratt & Whitney president is Shane Eddy, currently senior vice president and chief operations officer. That transition will also take effect on March 1.
