SOSi makes new analytics-focused acquisition

SOS International recently turned the page on celebrating its 30th anniversary and now makes acquisition number five over the past four years.

SOS International has made a fifth acquisition since 2016 as the government services company embarks on becoming what it wants to be for its next 30 years.

In a release Tuesday, SOSi said it has acquired Denmark-based advanced analytics software provider NorthStar Systems. Terms of the transaction were undisclosed and little details on the company being purchased were revealed.

But Reston, Virginia-based SOSi does tout how it built a data analytics platform that uses multiple protocols to navigate, identify, index and visualize communication data sets. The company also has created a cloud-based artificial intelligence platform that uses deep learning algorithms to sort through data sources in real time. NorthStar Systems presumably fits into that somewhere.

SOSi CEO Julian Setian told WT in September for an episode of our Project 38 podcast that he saw the company as buyers in the government services market’s active acquisition scene. Setian also described how SOSi has also sought to specialize in certain technology areas like the ones previously mentioned and how focusing on those is a key to success in the middle market.

The genesis of that episode was SOSi's celebration of the 30th anniversary of its founding.
