Leidos makes acquisition that adds $34B Army RS3 contract spot

Leidos has made a somewhat under-the-radar acquisition to gain a position on a key Army contract vehicle it was not selected for as an incumbent.

The target is Aranea Solutions, which won a spot on the $34.5 billion Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services contract in May of last year. Now a Leidos subsidiary, Aranea Solutions will vie for task orders over the RS3 contract’s potential 10-year ordering period for a broad array of technical services to the Army.

Officials from Leidos declined to comment beyond this brief description on the company’s website. The ordering period includes five base years and an a five-year optional ordering period.

Services under RS3 relate to information management and include systems analysis, design and integration, product and system fielding, cybersecurity, program and asset management.

The work is intended to have specific relevance to the C4ISR domain -- command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

RS3 is a consolidated contract from predecessor vehicles Strategic Services Sourcing and Rapid Response - 3rd Generation. Leidos inherited both contracts through its merger with the former Lockheed Martin IT business two years ago.
