Harris names Army vet Smith to BD leadership team

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Jeff Smith has joined Harris Corp. as a vice president of business development to support the defense technology maker’s relationships with the Army and Special Operations Command.

Smith brings three decades of leadership experience to Harris from both his military career and subsequent roles in the private sector, the company said Thursday.

His Army service included roles such as deputy commanding general of the XVIII Airborne Corp. and command assignments with the 82nd Airborne, 101st Air Assault and 10th Mountain divisions. Smith has deployed to Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq.

More recently, Smith has worked as senior vice president for strategic initiatives at contingency operation support services provider Sallyport Global Holdings.
