CGI adds Owens, Greer to federal leadership ranks

CGI Federal makes a pair of strategic hires in former USPTO CIO John Owens and former Accenture Federal Services executive Kevin Greer.

CGI’s U.S. government subsidiary announced Tuesday a pair of strategic hires in its push to further extend its market footprints in emerging technologies and shared services.

Former U.S. Patent and Trademark Organization Chief Information Officer John Owens has joined CGI Federal as a vice president in the emerging technology practice. Former Accenture Federal Services Managing Director Kevin Greer was named vice president of management consulting and business systems shared services.

Owens will oversee the subsidiary’s solution development group that oversees all intellectual property. He became USPTO’s CIO in 2008, where he led the agency’s transition to a near-paperless operation and adoption of new agile software development methods for citizen-facing services.

Greer will lead CGI Federal’s work to create its future strategic business consulting center of excellence. He more recently was managing director of federal shared services at Accenture’s federal subsidiary and prior to that worked as managing director for federal finance and enterprise performance lead, according to his LinkedIn profile.
